Unexpected pregnancy, mysterious force trying to seize control of the weather, a dying witch needing to find a replacement -- what could possibly go wrong?
The Witch has sent a message through her tears in the wind, to the sorceress Veras. The Witch knows that she is dying, and cannot bear to leave this world without someone to watch over her beloved Great East Wood.
With her new husband--the swordsman Nico--and her friend the sorceress Creda, Veras and their warrior friends travel to the Great East Wood to help the Witch . . . but they discover that a powerful force is learning to take control of the weather.
While they struggle against this force, Veras and Nico face their own challenges as they adjust to married life and Veras's surprise pregnancy, all of which is complicated by the presence of the sorcerer Xyron, who happens to be Veras's former lover. Can the group overcome their doubts and differences to find some way to protect the Great East Wood and the surrounding towns and areas?
